My uncle, Mike Rust, drew this for me shortly after I got the T/A. It was scanned in 2 pieces and pasted together.

I totalled the car in February 2001 in a front-end collision as I was turning left out of the KMart parking lot into rush hour traffic. Another driver waved that it was clear to go, but it wasn't and I hit the other car at an angle with the front corner of the car. Sheet metal was twisted all the way around the passenger side of the car, and the passenger door could not be opened.
|
The airbags deployed, which is not an experience I wish to ever go through again. At the same time smoke started coming out of the dashboard. My face barely hit the bag, and this accident is a large part of why I have back problems today.
|
The passenger airbag deployed with so much force that it cracked the windshield from the inside, although it's hard to see because of the snow. The day of the crash it was clear, sunny and warm outside.

The whole car as it sat in the impound lot while I negotiated with the insurance company.
